Salon is feeling the pressure!
Help Salon meet its immediate £1250 rent shortfall so that we can provide another excellent year of exhibitions!
Since opening in 2023, Salon has provided our Northdown Road community with an outstanding time! We've featured over 100 talented local artists in over 70 exhibitions and our Private Views have seen crowds spilling into the street. The booth has been graced by more than 20 DJs, we’ve hosted performances, book launches, installation, Christmas art superstores and more. It’s become a vibrant place to meet, enjoy art and join a community of excellent people.
From the start we've had one mission, to provide a platform for artists of merit with minimal economic barriers. The model of the space has been simple, pay the landlord, pay the bills, and work 100% for free. The four-person team running Salon has volunteered well over 2000 hours of our time without receiving a penny, and we have personally covered shortfalls in meeting the gallery's costs to the tune of over £3000 to keep the project alive.
Unfortunately we've had a very challenging winter and are now facing immediate costs of £1250 which we need to foot personally, and between the four of us we are really struggling to pull together the funds to do it.
So we’re reaching out to our community to ask for support. Can you help provide this critical funding that will cover our rent shortfall and help us stay stable as we head into spring? If you've enjoyed the 70+ Private Views and countless free events we've hosted, felt the impact Salon has had in the community, or want to pay us back for all of the free wine we've given you, consider investing a small amount in what will surely be another exceptional year!
(p.s. any contribution, no matter the size, is hugely valuable to us. If we manage to exceed our goal, anything extra raised will go towards supporting the future of the gallery. We have special plans to create new funded opportunities for artists in the community – we’ll share more if the privilege arises)
Much love,
The Salon Team
