Sharon Gouger has always been a fighter.  Despite her petite size, she has demonstrated more strength than most could even imagine.  She has surprised many with her can do attitude and courageous spirit.

Sharon has always been a very generous and thoughtful woman. She would treat you like family from the first moment she met you. She loved to cook and bake, and she always had more than enough to go around. If you ever stopped by unannounced you would be offered a hot meal as though she was expecting you, and even send you home with leftovers. As she got to know you she would be sure to make your favorite dish without even asking.  She loved you unconditionally.

Sharon was from the old school, you know, during the times where the woman did everything to take care of her man. She worked hard as long as she was permitted to. She never quit, and even fought the decision about being "unable" to work with her disability. This caused significant financial difficulty for the Gougers. She did plenty of work from home. Meal planning, shopping, cooking, lunch packing, cleaning,  ironing, sewing, and handling every last detail of week long camping adventures. She also took loving care of her dogs, who were always a big part of her family. They too  had a laundry list of their own medical problems, and at times physically out weighed her, but that didn't stop Sharon. It seemed nothing would.

Sharon had a true desire to live life and make the most of it. She would not complain about her pain, instead she would persevere through it. She loved to go camping with her friends and family and spend time with her three beautiful grandchildren. Thanksgiving has always been her favorite holiday. She orchestrated a feast that included up to 10 families. She would never let herself believe she could not accomplish something. She was too determined. She was camping at the lake with friends and family two weeks ago. She was not going to let her health ruin her plans.

Sharon lived with a pace maker for several years. Suffered with heart issues including congestive heart failure, often turning into yet another stay at the hospital. She also had to deal with the side effects of heart medication destroying her kidney and liver function. She had type 2 diabetes which became impossible to manage without injections. She has had many issues with low blood pressure and hidden veins that it was excruciating trying to take blood or give interveniouis medications or fluids to help with dehydration.

Sharon had been suffering the last couple months with many additional issues.  She was unable to eat, and when she would try the food simply would not stay down. She dumbfounded the doctors which could not comprehend what was causing the problems.  Attempts were made  to reveal the issues including numerous appointments with doctors and specialists, a wide variety of blood tests, as well as surgical efforts. She had many, many high cost prescriptions to help her get the most out of life. As you can well imagine, even with medical insurance, numerous medical bills and expenses have been piling up. Due to her complicated health issues there was no life insurance. The disability checks she was receiving helped to cover some of these costs. Unfortunately, Sharon's body was too weak to continue, and is no longer with us.

This family would never have dreamed of asking for help like this. They have demonstrated generosity and offered a helping hand to many friends and family along the way. They are modest and caring, and are the one's you call when you have a problem. If you find it in your heart to donate to this family it would be much appreciated in this difficult time. Thank you so much.
