Our Eve Needs A Kidney
Donation protected
Eve is my niece. She is my only sisters baby girl. She is 11 years old and she needs a kidney transplant. Eve is youngest of my sister (Dawn) and her hubby's (Dave) 4 children. Her brothers are Isaac (19), Joel (18) and Rylee (13). She loves her dogs, the beach, her family and her friends. Eve is a beautiful, strong and very clever girl. On 25th January, Dawn and Dave took Eve to their GP. Eve hadn't really eaten for 2 days and her parents were concerned. Her doctor ordered blood test which they got done straight away. At 2.30am on Australia Day, my sister (who is self-employed) was heading off work when she received a call from the Hospital. "We need you to bring Eve in immediately". Our little Evie's kidneys were failing. Eve was seen to immediately when she got to the hospital. Dawn said the staff were amazing. She spent Australia Day on an IV in Rockhampton Hospital having various tests done and then had to be flown to Brisbane as they couldn't work out what was causing her kidneys to fail. Dave flew with Eve Lady Celento Hospital in the evening of Australia Day where she is receiving specialist treatment. Her doctors told Dave that their baby girl will need a kidney transplant. Hey kidney function is at 10%. Her tiny body will need dialysis to keep her alive. We're currently waiting for her to have a kidney biopsy. I spoke to her on Friday (27th) and she said to me, "Aunty Mel, they're going to take a piece of my kidney". I told her how brave I think she is. Unfortunately, her red cell count dropped too low for them to perform the procedure, so she had to have a blood transfusion. We're hoping she's well enough to have her biopsy on Monday so we can maybe know why this is happening to our Eve. We're calling for donations to help support Eve and her family. Her mum is stuck in Yeppoon having to work to support the family when she'd give anything to be by her baby's side. Her dad (who is awaiting surgery himself) is living away from the rest of his family and his home so Eve has someone with her at all times. Anything you could spare to support Eve and her family would be very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read her story.
