Around a year ago, Mom "rang the bell" signifying that she was done her breast cancer treatments. She was an inspiration during Chemo and radiation therapy for which she had to go to Halifax and stay for the entire process. I've never experienced a more positive person during the entire ordeal and we were all so relieved that she had beaten it!

However... Cancer has its ways, and shortly after her 70th Birthday she (and we) were told more earth shaking news. It had returned and with a vengeance...this time the prognosis wasn't so good. STAGE 4, TERMINAL of the bile duct and some surrounding areas... a very aggressive and foreboding type of cancer, very rare apparently, but very real.

The back and forth to Halifax from Yarmouth for treatments will be costly. The day to day expenses at home are things she should not worry about at this time. Coming to Ontario to see her family, grandkids, great grandkids and friends she has made along the way- sooner rather than later is paramount.

We don't know what the treatment plan is yet or even if it CAN be treated. The entire family is in panic mode, without trying to focus on the negative... it's so difficult for us all, but in the storm, our lighthouse is Mom. She is proving to be the strength and light once again with her positivity, love and laughter.

As with anyone who starts a GOFUNDME, there is remorse that we are asking the world for support for her - but, this woman deserves to have less worries financially as she fights this terrible fight, and us providing the assistance will show her that there really is a community of love behind her no matter the outcome of her fight.
