You have been sent this link because you can help a growing problem. Here are a few facts:
* "Despite the growing need for increased education and advanced degrees to secure jobs, only 59 percent of students who begin college as freshman at a four-year college receive their diploma within six years. Students who come from low-income backgrounds are even less likely to graduate—if they even begin at all." - Washington Post
* Students who lose even $1,000 in grant money greatly increase their chance of dropping out of college
* "More than half of students who drop out do so because of a small, solvable financial crisis—financially defined as less than $1,500. " - National Association of Student Personnel Administrators
There is a growing need for financial assistance for college students and you have been invited to help solve the problem. This effort, Standing InThe Gap scholarship fund, will serve as a community force to keep college students from dropping out. With the help of the community (you), Standing In The Gap Fund will start with a capacity of $40,000. Its mission is to honor exceptional students by eliminating gaps in needed college funding. The fund will supply college students who primarily reside in Philadelphia with assistance up to $3,500.
