Samantha Brady has experienced a fire disaster and is in dire need of help. As Sacramento Natives, we have a friendship that goes back to childhood.

On November 11 at 12:20am a fire broke out in Samantha and Ryan’s Sacramento home. Samantha was sleeping in her upstairs bedroom when she was woken by the sound of the smoke detector alarms. She was able to escape the fire while also coming back inside the home to get her 2 guests safely out. And she went back a third time to get her family dog, Nala, out.

Ryan was at his father’s the night of the fire and was safe. Although the fire started in the garage, it spread quickly through the lower level of the home and burned or damaged everything with toxic soot. The smoke and soot penetrated deep into fabrics and furniture, melted pictures off the wall, and many of the downstairs windows shattered due to the heat. There were no salvaged items, like originally hoped.

The home is now boarded up, as well as has a perimeter fence set up due to the Notice of Fire & Life Safety. All of Samantha and Ryan’s belongings were determined to be a total loss.

Ryan’s Cat, Simba was admitted into the ICU at VCA pet hospital in Sacramento and survived. Their other cat, Nala sustained major smoke inhalation, had several seizures, and was in tremendous pain. She was humanely euthanized shortly after the fire. Although VCA pet hospital approved a payment plan, both bills are very expensive.

Samantha is rebuidliding from start to finish while focusing on her son’s needs. She also participates in youth tutoring programs and also is a volunteer chaperone for field trips at her son’s elementary school.

Samantha currently attends American River College with a transfer to UC Davis for Fall, 2019 with a degree in Agriculture and Food. Pictured below are honorary ropes Samantha received from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) the morning prior to the fire.

Samantha’s son Ryan (10 years old), is a National Honor’s Society student and was just invited into the IB program for middle school. He plays soccer and basketball and loves playing musical instruments like the guitar, piano, and drums.

Samantha is an entrepreneur and owns a small dog sitting business and Airbnb.

Samantha’s Friends Raising Hope are seeking donations as low as $5 to help her raise $10,000 for toiletries, food, temporary housing, veterinarian bills, replacement computer for school, and a modest car. If all goes well, She is hoping to provide a new bike for her son for Christmas and his birthday, the day after. Every dollar counts!!
