My name is Elisa, and my desire to help people in need has brought me to Nairobi, where I am currently living. Here, in the middle of chaos, diversity, cultural barriers, and poverty, I felt the need to act and find a way—within my small world—to make a difference in the lives of Kenyan people.

During my journey, other volunteers and I came across a small NGO in one of Nairobi’s slums, Kawangware. There, we met a truly inspiring person, Aswani, who dedicates his life to caring for orphans and children with special needs. The NGO, called Project of Hope, has a powerful mission: to create a safe environment for about 200 children who are living in extremely difficult conditions and cannot access a decent quality of life.

These children face many challenges every single day: there is not enough food or school supplies, transportation for disabled children to reach secondary schools is lacking, school fees often cannot be paid, and the current space is far too small to host them all.

Together with Aswani, we want to transform the children’s hope into a real and tangible opportunity—to live, to study, and to grow in a safe and nurturing environment. This crowdfunding campaign is the first step toward addressing the NGO’s urgent needs and building a sustainable project that will truly improve the conditions in which these children live.

Ciao sono Elisa e il mio desiderio di aiutare chi è in difficoltà mi ha portata a Nairobi, dove attualmente vivo. Qui, tra caos, diversità, barriere culturali e povertà, ho sentito il bisogno di agire e di trovare un modo—nel mio piccolo—per fare la differenza nella vita delle persone.

Durante il mio percorso, io e altri volontari abbiamo conosciuto una piccola ONG situata in una delle slum di Nairobi, Kawangware. Lì abbiamo conosciuto una persona davvero speciale, Aswani, che dedica la sua vita a prendersi cura di orfani e bambini con bisogni speciali. L’ONG, chiamata Project of Hope, ha una missione chiara e potente: creare un ambiente sicuro per circa 200 bambini che vivono in condizioni estremamente difficili e che non hanno accesso a una vita dignitosa.

Questi bambini affrontano quotidianamente enormi sfide: non hanno abbastanza cibo o materiale scolastico, manca il trasporto per i bambini disabili verso le scuole secondarie, spesso non possono pagare le rette scolastiche e lo spazio a disposizione è troppo esiguo per accoglierli tutti.

Insieme ad Aswani, vogliamo trasformare la speranza di questi bambini in un’opportunità reale e concreta: vivere, studiare e crescere in un ambiente sicuro e accogliente. Questa campagna di crowdfunding è il primo passo per affrontare i bisogni urgenti dell’ONG e costruire un progetto sostenibile che possa davvero migliorare le condizioni in cui questi bambini vivono.
