Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Strangers,

Writing this makes my heart ache, but sadly, I have to share something unimaginable that happened to my father, Cristian and the rest of my family.

As you may or may not know, this past week, Chile experienced the most deadliest forest fire on record. The fires have claimed at least 124 lives and hundreds of people are still missing. My father has been left with nothing but the clothes on his back and a shattered heart.

My family lost EVERYTHING due to this wildfire. The flames mercilessly consumed everything he held dear—his home, his possessions, and the very essence of his being. But the toll of this tragedy extends far beyond material loss. My dad thought he had lost his father in the fire, only to learn that he had been miraculously saved. The relief of this discovery was quickly overshadowed by the realization that not all of his cherished companions had been so fortunate.

Among the ashes and rubble, my dad lost his faithful companions—his dogs, who were more than just pets; they were his family, his confidants, and his source of unconditional love. Their absence is a gaping wound in his heart. There's nothing for them in Chile, only hope and the community.

As my dad grapples with the enormity of his losses, he finds himself at a crossroads, unsure of where to turn or how to begin rebuilding his shattered life. But he is not alone. In times of adversity, it is the strength of community that sustains us, that lifts us up when we are at our lowest.

With my brother and I being here in the states, there is only so much that we can do. So we turn to you, your generosity can make a world of difference in Cristian's journey toward healing and restoration.
