Hi everyone,
My name is Connie and I’m a cafe manager.
Due to having a very physical job + suffering from sciatica, I started strength and mobility training about a year ago.
This with the goal of moving/living without pain, which was going great until last Friday 9th February.
While training I suffered from a shoulder injury that was misdiagnosed.
I was told I had a supraspinatus tear, which is something that allows you to keep moving to some level.
I kept going to work while putting up with the pain (bills to pay) until I couldn’t hold it anymore and ended up in the emergency room on Sunday 18th.
Had a sleepless night - still showed up for work - but had to leave mid shift as the pain became unbearable.
Was advised to get an ultrasound by the Physio on call which showed my shoulder muscles are swollen but the injury is not there, might be my joint.
The osteo suspects it’s a SLAP lesion which is causing the pain to go all the way down my arm + hand, all the way up my neck and all the way down my ribs.
To find this out I need to now get an MRI.
As a non-Australian resident, none of this is covered by my insurance and my bank account is definitely feeling it. - The MRI along is around $400.
I need to get back to work ASAP which has the risk of making the injury worse if not diagnosed quickly…
