Burned house and robbery
Donation protected
Espace ago is not only our home, our atelier - not only our living fantasy. Espace aygo is a safe place for all communities to work, express and come together.
On Sunday night, while working on the final touches on a big sculpture, our atelier caught on fire, with us inside. The fire started from the sculpture and spread onto all the walls which created immense flames and an insanely black and thick smoke. The whole room was on fire and two of us were inside, stuck by the suction of the fire.
For those who have been here, you can imagine the size of our atelier, for those who haven’t yet, well you will never see it.
It was a very chocking and destructive experience but luckily we are ALL SAFE. Sadly, our works and tools are not.
While we were not allowed to stay in our house, on the night of Sunday to Monday, people took advantage of our empty house. We got robbed.
Tools and computers are gone. Its all that was left.
Espace Aygo is a project lead by us; Line, Sijmen, Jaime and Salomé, with two amazing artists in residence; Maori and Adi.
Since the beginning we are building mountains with what we find, work with a small budget, mostly with found or donated materials.
What we do here is beyond anything any of us have done before, because we work together as a team, because we are a family and because we have so many amazing people around us.
As devastating as it is for us, we are positive about what is next. But we need your help.
We are welcoming any donations (a go fund me page will be up soon), from cleaning products and materials, money, an old computer you have in your room. For those who are in Bruxelles, if you have any time in the next days, come, help in any way you feel comfortable with.
We love you
