Calvin was brought in to the Children's Hospital on Wednesday January 11th, 2017 by his father because he was lethargic and wouldn't stop throwing up. Soon we realized this wasn't an accidental fall like his father had described. Calvin had a fracture to the back of his skull, severe bruising to the back of his body, and a traumatic brain injury. The damage has left Calvin unable to use the left side of his body. When his father was questioned he fled the hospital, now that he has a warrant out for his arrest he is hiding in a treatment facility to buy time. Calvin is also having seizures from the injury. We are hopeful that he will recover, but not without a lot of work. He now needs 24hr care, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy 3 times a week and is on Seizure Medication. Before this had happened Crista (Calvin's Mother) was getting ready to start a new job and was starting the process of moving into a new home for her and her two boys. Crista also suffers from a Rare Neurological Disorder called Narcolepsy with Cataplexy. Even though this Disorder is hard to manage, she does it while taking care of her two amazing kids. Crista is one of the most good hearted people I have ever met. She would give the clothes off her back to someone that needed it with no hesitation. She is selfless in every way and loves those kids with every ounce of her being. Crista, Benton, and Calvin have a great support system through Family and close friends. We just want to make sure she doesn't have to focus on anything other than her children and Calvin's Recovery.
