Amy is a Social Worker at Oconomowoc High School. She loves to serve her students everyday. With being in a wheel chair, Amy's wheel chair accessible van is her life line. It's how she gets to work every morning. It's how she's able to get to all her doctors appointments (which she has daily). It's how she can do things like give blood, judge the Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin pageant, or tutor local college students. It's also how she has a social life with friends and family. This past Monday, as one of her staff, who drives her to work, was coming back to Whitewater, they ended up in a ditch. From looking at the picture you, might think it's fixable. Unfortunately, this door is the door that has the lift which allows Amy to get in and out her van. The lift can not be repaired. After taking the van to the mechanic, it's sad to say that the van no longer meets Amy's needs. Yes, she did have insurance, but it doesn't cover the cost of the lift. Renting a van can be around $1600 a week, which makes this not an option. A teacher cannot afford that. Please help Amy live her life! Any kind donation is appreciated by Amy, her friends, her family, and all of the students she services.
