FORREST NIXON LIFE FUND
Misty and Forrest became best friends when they were 13 years old and 34 years later they still are. They are the proud parents of a 21 year old daughter and 9 year old twin girls. In March of 2015 Forrest was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer and given 6 to 9 months. In his typical fighting spirit Forrest did not lay down to die he chose to live. He found a house and with no AC through one of the hottest summers on record he completely renovated it himself with a chemo bag strapped to his leg.
On Christmas eve he was rushed to the hospital and a DNR was signed. Last week we was released back to the care of his loving wife and girls. As you can imagine the medical costs are mounting. He is no longer able to work and Misty, who is one of the hardest working people I know has now been forced to take time off to care for him until hospice is set up.
The financial and emotional toll is crippling.
These are very proud, strong Texans who have a hard time asking for help and a harder time accepting it.
Forrest chose to live when given a limit of time. It is hard to watch him suffer but harder to watch this family, especially these little girls, deal with the stress. If there is any relief that we as friends and strangers, who are blessed with additional days can relieve it is my hope that we will by helping them with the mounting costs.
“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
