Hello, we are a small group of friends and family creating support for the family of Scott Thomas. Scott passed away on October 21st from brain cancer. We had the highest hopes that the cancer treatments he received would help prolong his life. But, the treatments did not slow the cancer's progress and he was gone in under a year from the first diagnostic. Unfortunately, what does remain is a mounting number of medical bills not covered by the family's insurance.
Scott was a giver, a do-er, and a person who was always there when someone needed help. He was a hilarious person with a BIG personality. He will be greatly missed.
Scott comes from the Thomas family. The Thomas's were some of the earliest settlers in Nevada County and founders of Nevada City. The Thomas's are Cornish and came here during the gold rush. They were partial owners of the Champion Mine complex in Nevada City. The Thomas Ranch, located at the foot of Banner Mountain, remained in their possession until the family trust decided to sell it a few years ago despite the strong protest from Scott. After the sale, he and his family moved from the Ranch and relocated to the tiny town of Bangor.
Scott was truly an old-school local. If you are from here you probably know him. If you know him you will understand he never would have allowed this fundraiser to happen. He never would have asked for financial assistance. Leaving the family trail of bills was never his intention. Yet both these things are a reality. There are bills and we can pull together to help his family in his absence.
