My sister, Kelly LeBel was recently diagnosed with esophageal adenocarcinoma. For those of you who don’t know, esophageal cancer is a quickly growing, aggressive cancer. This news has been absolutely devastating to our family. Kelly is the type of person to go above and beyond for everyone except herself. She has always put our family first, and she is the most selfless person I know.

For over 15 years, Kelly has been watching children. It started when our cousin had a child with Prader-Willi Syndrome. She took care of this little girl without hesitation when her mom had to go back to work, learning how to give her the best care possible when coming from a non-medical background. Since then, she has watched over 10 children, treating each like her own and impacting these kids in such a positive way.

Starting the last week of August, Kelly will begin the first round chemo, in addition to radiation. Following these treatments, she will undergo the most invasive surgery you can have for any cancer. Recovery time will take a little over a year. Due to this, she will not be able to work and watch the children. For Kelly, I know that this is the hardest part of the entire process. I am looking to help her and her family with the astronomical cost of medical tests and procedures.

Kelly has the most amazing family and supportive friends that will be there for her throughout this process. She also has the best team of doctors and professionals who will do everything in their power to help her beat it!!
