Hi, I’m a single mum, a teacher, and a writer — and I’m reaching out with hope in my heart. Six years ago, I began writing a novel during the few quiet moments I had between parenting and studying. I’ve carried this story with me through heartbreak, single motherhood, two university degrees, a pandemic, and now — finally — my first year as a qualified teacher. But let me take you back. I trained my whole life to be a professional dancer. I was months away from starting dance college in London when I found out I was pregnant. I chose to keep my baby, and though it changed my path forever, I have never once regretted it. Her father and I separated when she was a few months old, and I’ve been raising her on my own ever since. Determined to build a stable future, I went to university to become a teacher — only for the pandemic to disrupt my degree, leaving me with a diploma but no qualification. I spent the next year working as a Teaching Assistant, barely scraping by. I skipped meals, lived without luxuries, and was buried in debt. That year was one of survival — but it was also a turning point. I went back to university, got qualified, and now I’m doing what I love. But here’s the catch: I have to reapply for my job next year. Nothing is guaranteed, and after my bills and debt payments each month, I’m left with £3.18. Still, through everything, I’ve kept writing. This book is more than just a story — it’s proof that no matter what life throws at you, you can still create something beautiful. I’ve tried submitting to publishers, but have only received scammy offers. So I’ve decided to self-publish. I just need help to make it happen. If you believe in second chances, in fighting for your dreams, and in showing our children that resilience matters — I would be so grateful for your support. Even £1 makes a difference. And if you can’t give, please share my story. I want my daughter to see that giving up one dream doesn’t mean you can’t make another come true. Follow the journey: @ediemaiandme Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart.
