MOVING

Hi,

I'm Gretel Garcia Cuba, and here I am, writing a Gofundme story to ask for help.

I am trying to figure out how to do any of this well.

I believe in being candid about my struggles, but asking for this kind of help feels...different, humbling, and awkward. And for an extra dash of displeasure, this is the second time, in eight arduous months, that I have had to ask for help.

What has brought me here, to this moment, is that ---- much like one of my fave films, The Perfect Storm ---- life has smooshed together interesting, but challenging situations all at once!

My landlords unexpectedly have chosen not to renew my lease...

which makes me have to hurry up and find an apartment in six weeks...

while I am living off a cobbled together gig-economy income...

all of which makes staying motivated in my job search (204 jobs applied to, paired with endless first, second, and final interviews) a really deep and difficult effort.

The help I'm asking for will allow me to put down a nonrefundable deposit for an apartment and cover moving costs, including the rental of a truck and hiring a couple of extra people to help with heavy lifting. In addition, the funds would help me stay above water financially while I juggle moving costs and my regular monthly bills.

If you have read this far, it is already more than I expected.
