My Story

My name is Adrián, and let me tell you a little about myself — or perhaps about who I was “before all this.”

In 2018, after more than 15 years working as an employee, I decided to change my professional life and become an entrepreneur in the wine industry. At the age of 45, supported by my family, I went back to studies

and internships so I could enter this fantastic industry.

In January 2020, I finally made my dream come true! Only a few months later, COVID arrived. You can imagine the impact for someone who had just launched a business and tried to control every risk… except a pandemic. Still, I decided to continue, to fight and move forward. Little by little, the first positive results began to appear, and I started to establish myself in the sector.

Regarding my health, some discomfort started to appear, but my general doctor said there was nothing to worry about. The years passed, and some medical values continued to be outside normal ranges, but again I was sent for exams that were not the right ones — now I know that.

In February 2025, just before traveling to participate in one of the most important wine fairs in France, I was told that I had a tumor of worrying size. Commercially, 2025 was one of the best editions of the wine fair for me. But during those days, my mind was focused on the news and the fear of whether the tumor was malignant or benign.

In March, the answer was very hard: malignant, with a Gleason score of 9/10 — very aggressive.

In April, the PET scan showed what the doctors and my family feared: the cancer was already advanced, with metastases in several bones. The news was devastating. Like a hammer hitting your head without mercy. I had to handle my own pain and the pain of my loved ones, which is often even harder.

I started in April with a strong hormone therapy protocol. Just a few weeks later, I began chemotherapy at the highest authorized dose to fight the cancer aggressively. Living through chemotherapy is completely different from describing it. During my treatment, I endured hospitalizations, infections, thrombosis, and many other challenges.

From the very beginning, I knew that my faith and inner strength would be my greatest helpers. I held on to them through many hard moments. I also knew that my mind and spirit were very important, so I chose to keep a positive attitude and strong spirit during chemotherapy. I had to stay mentally and emotionally strong to face each treatment and deal with the strong side effects that came after.

Months passed, and while my body and mind slowly weakened, my spirit and determination remained strong. Some medical values showed improvement, but not at the expected pace. A few weeks after finishing chemotherapy, it was time for a new PET scan.

The results were very difficult: the cancer was still present and had expanded in areas where it was already strong. This meant entering a new treatment phase and accepting that the medication, initially thought to be needed for only a year, or two, is now considered for life… For life! This was a shock, not only because of all the side effects but also because of the financial reality.

This is why I decided to start this fundraiser. In just six months, we have used all our family savings, and the road ahead is still very long.

The costs include medical treatments, rehabilitation centers to recover strength and mobility, family travel, hotels, special diets, and daily living expenses and the loss of income from my work as an entrepreneur.. While my spirit is strong, my body and mind are not, making it impossible for me to work and put the energy needed into treatment.

Today I am 52. I have always been a healthy person, loving nature, sports, and a balanced life. But life decided to give me this lesson, and I know it can be an opportunity to build something better.

Mon Histoire

Bonjour à tous, et merci de prendre un moment pour lire mon histoire.

Je m’appelle Adrián. En 2018, après plus de 15 ans comme salarié, j’ai décidé de devenir entrepreneur dans le secteur du vin. En janvier 2020, mon rêve est devenu réalité… et quelques mois plus tard, la COVID est arrivée.

En février 2025, on m’a diagnostiqué une tumeur inquiétante. En mars, le verdict : cancer malin, très agressif (Gleason 9/10). En avril, le PET scan a montré que le cancer s’était déjà propagé à plusieurs os.

J’ai commencé une hormonothérapie forte, puis la chimiothérapie la plus intensive possible. J’ai été hospitalisé, j’ai eu des infections, des thromboses et beaucoup d’autres difficultés. Malgré tout, ma foi et mon esprit sont restés forts. J’ai dû rester mentalement et moralement solide pour affronter chaque traitement et ses effets secondaires.

Aujourd’hui, je dois continuer les traitements, la rééducation, les examens médicaux et les soins quotidiens. Après six mois, nous avons utilisé toutes nos économies familiales, et les coûts à venir sont très élevés.
