For those of you who truly know me, you know that teaching and coaching is not something that I just like to do...it's something I was born to do. In the past 14 years, I have had the chance to share both disappointments and triumphs with countless young people and each one of them have left a lasting impact. But, admittedly, every teacher or coach finds "The One."
"The One" is that kid who digs so deep into you that you know it was more than chance that your paths crossed. "The One" reminds you why you decided to teach/coach in the first place and he/she makes the personal sacrifice worth it.
Kevin is my "The One."
We met his 8th grade year, 7 years ago, and I knew immediately he was special. From that moment on, Kevin was more than a soccer player to me; he, ultimately, became a son. We worked tirelessly to ensure his dream of college and created a life better than the one he ever thought possible. And now, that dream is in jeopardy. Due to a recent hardship, Kevin is short on the college tuition that is not covered by his scholarship. And, although by many standards it is not much, it is more of a burden than can be tackled by me and Kevin alone.
And, that's where you come in...
You know I would never ask for help unless all other options have been exhausted. This kid deserves the chance to finish school and make a life for himself. He has done everything right. He has always rose to the occasion. And, he has never faltered in the belief I created in him that he is worth it. So, please help me keep his dream alive, and ANY amount, even $5, will help. All proceeds will go directly to his tuition and nothing else.
I promise you..."The One" is worth it.
