Kate's Get Well Brain Cancer Fund

Kate had her brain tumor removed in February 2012. Since then she has had an intense round of radiation, gamma ray surgery and two rounds of chemotherapy, both pill form (temodar) and infusion. Her insurance dropped her soon after the surgery and she is on Medicaid. The co-pays have been astronomical and we can't afford all of the drugs she needs. Glioblastoma Multiforme is
the roughest cancer you can get. She went from a happy normal 21 year old to teaching herself to walk again. The surgery paralyzed her left side. The survival rate of this rare cancer is very low, usually in the 6 month range. It has been over 15 months and she is a trooper.
As her older sister and caretaker I am hoping to raise enough money to pay her bills and get her the treatment she needs. I am also hoping to help her fulfill her life goals. She desperately wants to finish her bachelors degree in psychology at Sam Houston State University and she is half way there! She would like to be able to travel to see far flung friends and relatives. (update!) our car works again!
My dream is that we can get her feeling well enough to share in our mutual passion for bicycling. I would like to get her a recumbent trike with an electric assist so she can ride with me. With a bike like that we could do a bike tour together!
She has had a very positive attitude about the whole ordeal and amazes me with her strength in the face of adversity. Please help me make the best of the time we have together and help eliminate the stress money has put on our relatively care free lives.
