Hi, my name is Jarna, and it is with a deeply heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved father, John Ray, after several months of courageously battling cancer.
Dad was a truly treasured member of his community. In Macksville and beyond, he was known for his kindness, generosity, and genuine compassion. He was the type of person who would never turn away from someone in need. Whether he was helping out at local schools, lending a hand with jobs big or small, or simply mowing a neighbour’s lawn, he gave his time freely and without ever expecting anything in return. Showing up for others wasn’t something he thought about it was simply who he was.
Everywhere he went, Dad carried a warmth that made people feel at ease. He always had a smile to share, a joke to tell, or a story that could brighten someone’s day. If you knew John, you knew he was a true people person someone who could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and leave them feeling better for it. His laughter was infectious, his spirit uplifting, and his heart incredibly big. He had a rare way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for, and that is something we will carry with us forever.
On the 15th of April Dad peacefully passed away, surrounded by the love of his family. While we find comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and is finally at rest, the loss we feel is immeasurable. There are no words that can truly capture the depth of this heartbreak. A part of us went with him, and life will never feel quite the same without his presence, guidance, and unwavering love.
They say grief is the price we pay for love and if that’s true, it only reflects just how deeply he was loved by so many.
During this incredibly difficult time, we are reaching out for support as we navigate life without him. Any donation, no matter how big or small, would mean more to us than words can express.
Your kindness and generosity will help ease the burden during this time of loss, and we are truly grateful for every bit of support.
Thank you for helping us honour and celebrate the life of an extraordinary man who meant so much to so many.
