Save A Beautiful Life, Danielle

Dear Family, Friends, and Loved Ones,

This fundraiser is a matter of life and death. It is for my sister Danielle's life and her daughter Rielle's well-being. There isn’t a more noble cause to donate to and I am imploring you with all my heart and soul to donate now. The goal is to raise $45,000. It will be used for 100 days at a long-term rehabilitation center and 1-2 months of after care at a special housing facility.  She is suffering in a way that only the most tortured souls could appreciate. She experiences misery every single day of her life and is nearing the end of the road. She deserves a chance to get better.

The US surgeon general has recently explained that addiction is not a moral failing but a chronic brain disease. It should be treated like any other disease. Here is the link; http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2016/11/17/502402409/surgeon-general-murthy-wants-america-to-face-up-to-addiction. My sister has never had any significant treatment but instead has had unstable family support and sporadic medical care. The time for an immersive healing is NOW. The alternative is likely her death.

She has been struggling with addiction for over 15 years. She got involved with the worst of all drugs, heroin, as a freshman in high school. Our father overdosed on heroin, she was 6 years old. Her brain was still that of a child, undeveloped and completely unprepared for such a vicious drug to take hold of her. She struggled for three or four years with this demonic drug and then regained some control of her life with the use of methadone. She was stuck on this rough substance the next 10 years and then began a struggle with use of cocaine and crack. She has been to many doctors and has been prescribed some type of antidepressant or an opiate blocker time and time again.  She has been to state sanctioned outpatient programs which have had some positive effect but ultimately have failed. A long-term rehab is her only choice. Please see the below link for the rehab center. It has been recommended by several people and featured in 2 separate years by Psychology today as one of the nation’s best rehabs.

Right now, she is knocking on deaths door. She has lost custody of her daughter and has hit absolute rock-bottom. This is a period in a drug addict's life where they either bounce back or die. If she was healthy she would be around 130 pounds, SHE IS UNDER 90 LBS.

MY PLEDGE TO THOSE WHO DONATE

#1- Every single dollar will go to her rehabilitation first. The facility and detox are around $35,000. There are many other incidentals like flight, basic day to day items, and the after care facility. If there is excess money it will be reimbursed proportionately to donors or the excess will be donated again to a charity that serves former or current addicts. I am donating $3,000 to start and will continue to add money as needed.

#2- I am going to stick with my sister during and after this process to help ensure she does not relapse.

#3- If she never goes to rehab or leaves early every dollar will be reimbursed that has not been used to the donors proportionately.

Please help my family. You have my word that I will see this through and never quit on her. I ask you to think of your donation amount as 1 dinner with a significant other at a restaurant. Or whatever amount you can donate. Please also forward this to anyone you think may help.

Finally, I ask on my own behalf. My father has been dead for 24 years. My mother is not well. If my sister dies it will be a wound that will never heal. I miss my little sister and I need her in my life. AS DOES HER DAUGHTER!
