On November 8th, the Camp Fire burned through Paradise, CA and surrounding communities devastating so many lives including our long, long time family friends - Terry and Devvy Huggins and Devvy's mother Fonda Baden. (Terry is my Dad's life long friend of 50 years.)
Its been hard for Terry and Devvy to accept that they need our help but have realized they may be in bad shape for quite some time as they cannot settle with insurance and have limited access to funds. They are not even allowed to go back into Paradise to see the catastrophic damages of where they once lived though they don't know if they can stand to see it.
Since Terry and Devvy were full time RV'ers, the max insurance for their RV and trailer for all their belongings is limited. And everything they owned is totally gone.
Their plan is to try to get what they can from retirement to get another RV, however in the meantime have moved from a shelter to a hotel with their elderly Mom. Mom's beginning Alzheimers is getting worse day by day especially with all the chaos. She wants a place that feels like home where she has her own space but she will have to live with Terry and Devvy in the RV (boy oh boy they are going to have fun....). They are hoping Mom will rebuild eventually but is sick and may not be able to take the noise and confusion anyway.
Terry said to me: you can watch these devastating fires on TV but, until you actually go through of horror or driving literally through flames at 5mph and luckily survive, loose everything you worked so hard your entire life for, you just can't fathom how lost and desperate you feel. And even though so many are going rough the same thing, its hard not to feel alone.
Please consider donating to help our friends get back on their feet. They need EVERYTHING. We would like to to lift up and bless this family and let them know they are not alone. Even small donations, can quickly add up when many are working together in unity!
Terry will be a able to withdraw the funds directly.
