Please Support John Walcott In This Time of Loss

On November 24th John Walcott lost the love of his life, his beautiful and brave wife Gertrude.

In the autumn of 2022, John and Gertrude faced a serious problem when one of Gertrude’s legs became paralyzed. Together they decided to go north to be closer to their family and pursue all possible medical treatments at the University of Pennsylvania. Gertrude was ultimately diagnosed with a rare cancerous tumor in her spine. Throughout these past months the tumor worked its way to her brain and eventually shut down her bodily functions. Despite the ordeal she remained dignified and determined. For the duration of this heartbreaking journey John’s support was steadfast as his wife endured excruciating treatments. While advocating for Gertrude he managed to keep up online classes for his students.

John has touched the lives of many people, guiding them toward better health and wellbeing. An important part of our community for over 20 years, he freely shares his knowledge and created a spiritual place where all are welcomed as family. One thing we could always count on was John at South Beach teaching his beloved Cloudwalker Qi Gong and welcoming the sunrise. John has always lived “Doing What He Loves”— which means empowering others. He has always given his knowledge and energy generously to everyone.

Now John is left to pick up the pieces of his life without his beloved wife, Gertrude. Medical expenses, funeral costs, and the aftermath of such a loss can create financial burdens. He is going to need financial help to begin to rebuild a life. During this challenging time it is crucial for John to receive the support he needs from our community.
