Tim and Kristine Holt's Cars

Hi! My name is Kate. I grew up in Jordan, Minnesota just up the street from my Aunt Kristine and Uncle Tim. Kristine and Tim were my second parents growing up. They took me on dates with them when I was a baby and toddler, and I babysat their kids when I was a teen. I love Star Wars because of Uncle Tim, and he taught me to shoot hoops and spin a basketball on one finger. Kristine always cut my hair and took walks with me while listening to me and talking about life.
We essentially had a revolving door between our two houses; my siblings and I would run over to the Holts' to borrow movies or see what was up, or they would show up at our house for snacks or to play. They are some of the kindest people I know, and I have always looked up to them. So when I learned on November 18th that their garage had caught fire in the night, I was shocked, devastated, and concerned for this family I love so much.
There have been many miracles in the wake of this tragedy: a neighbor who's midnight snack run alerted the Holts to the danger; an unintentionally good home insurance policy; wonderful, giving neighbors and community who gathered supplies for the immediate needs of the Holts; as well as many others. Speaking with Kristine, she has told me that she feels incredibly blessed despite the hardships this kind of tragedy brings.
The one area that will help the Holts get on their feet is new transportation. Both of their cars where partially, or wholly damaged in the fire, so they are borrowing cars from friends and family while they assess what insurance will and will not replace. Unfortunately, it seems Tim's car is a loss.
I am reaching out to ask for help on behalf of my Holt family. Ideally, with the current car market, I would like to gather around $15,000 towards helping provide the Holts with good reliable cars, without taking on much, if any, monthly car payment. However, I have no idea how far this will reach. Reaching a goal of even $5,000 would majorly kickstart any car investment.
For any readers, thank you. Your consideration and concern, regardless of contribution, is meaningful. One of the greatest blessings to be found within tragedy is discovering yourself surrounded with people who care. Merry Christmas!
