A Flight Attendant In Need: Training Debt & Rent
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Chelsea and I recently took a massive leap of faith to make progress towards a lifelong dream: I started a career as a flight attendant. After a four month application and interview process and six weeks of unpaid training, I can say with much pride that I have my wings and just finished my first month of flying. And despite already having to fly over the holidays, manage flight delay pains, and clean up vomit multiple times, the amount of joy this job has given me cannot be put into words.
However as you might have noticed, I did say that training was unpaid... and well as it turns out I won't get my first paycheck until after I've completed two months of flying - a grand total of going four months without pay. As I now lay in my bunk bed in a room that sleeps 11 other women, in a "crash pad" that sleeps 39 other people because I had to temporarily relocate to an astronomically expensive city I can't help but feel very scared... and lonely... and helpless to be honest. I want so badly to be able to put money away into savings so I can attend my sister's wedding once I finally get my first paycheck, but I know I won't be able to. I already had to miss my grandpa's funeral for this job, I can't miss this wedding too. May I please ask for support in paying off the debt I've incurred these past months working unpaid and ask for help making rent so that I can start to save again?
This job is an investment. I know I'm going to have to grind and live minimally for years and pay my dues by working the flights that no one else wants to work. I'm willing to do that for a job that even after all of that gives me life, fills my cup, actually makes me want to wake up in the morning. I worked very hard to get where I am and want to continue to spend my life supporting others. I believe in paying it forward, and I fully intend to keep practicing that every day I can. Please help me continue to do that <3
All my love,
Chelsea
P.S. If anyone would like to know more about my journey I'm happy to share <3
