My story is long, and it's far from over. I'm still a long way from being able to cover the medical bills, not to mention the other expenses piling up. Every penny helps, and every share counts. These diseases, this constant cycle of appointments and treatments, it's not getting any easier. If you can't donate right now, please, just sharing this on your platform would mean the world to me. Amazon wish list med shoplyUlcerative Pancolitis has been a rough road for the last 14.5 years. Exhaustion, nausea pain etc are still a daily occurrence for my body.
I have been off and on over 14 medications for the disease including large doses of steroids (up to 80mg daily prednisone) and biologic medications that have been havoc on my entire system, not just GI. I officially gave up on those medications in March of this year and turned to surgery.
Recovery from total colectomy is a twisty long road- but with insurance changes and lack of adequate coverages some things have been on the stressful side. The surgery itself has made quality of life bearable which is great- but the continual aftermath of issues has a whole new array of difficulties. Several bowel blockages, twisted intestines, infection, hospitalization, Emergency Department visits and expensive medical supplies has been continuously getting more difficult to maneuver and I am reaching out for help. Being constantly short of supplies and mounting medical debt before another major surgery in the next few weeks, I figured I would put myself out there and give this a try.
Long shot I am sure, but even just ONE month of only ONE part of my bag supply is between 70-100 dollars due to hernia above and beside stoma. That is not including the other steps for preparation and adhesion.
I am aware medical stuff makes a lot of people uncomfortable and talking about bowels, colons, intestines and surgery can make some feel nauseated- so I will let you google what you want to know, and will consider the above information would be beneficial to make an informed choice on if you would want to donate. I meet with surgeon next week for two hernia repairs and I still get IV infusions twice a week in the meantime while I’m still healing and for
the foreseeable future. Please consider donations. I am also creating a wishlist on Amazon for anyone who would be more comfortable being either anonymous or willing to help with ileostomy supplies directly.
