Hello, my name is Maggie and I am Producing a student made short film, entitled Downstage. My team and I currently attend BCIT for Television and Video Production and are aspiring Filmmakers in Vancouver. As one of our final assignments we are tasked to create a short film and we are extremely excited to do so. In the coming new year we will begin the process and be using all the hands on experience and skills we have acquired from our schooling thus far.
In “Downstage” a short film written by Kinley Friesen, Selah, a musical theatre student, struggles to pursue her dreams while dealing with her mother’s unfulfilled ambitions. As Selah prepares for an important show, her mother, Nicki unexpectedly appears, casting a shadow on Selah’s journey. The dramatic film explores family dynamics, sacrifices, and the challenges of chasing artistic aspirations. Selah must balance passion for performing with the ghosts of her mother’s past, to prove herself right once and for all onstage.
Our team of nine students, along with the help of other classmates and instructors, are passionate about creating this film and telling its incredible, inspiring story. We are asking for donations to go towards fees such as the talent, locations, props, costumes and more. If you would like to donate to this production we will be very grateful. All donations will also receive a special thanks in the credits of our film.
Thank you to all who donate, we appreciate every penny!
