Anthony's Road to Recovery

On April 27th of 2015, at the age of 19, my friend Anthony was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), which is an aggressive form of blood cancer. After 6 months, and four rounds of chemotherapy, his doctors told him that he was in remission. With that news, he went on living a normal life again. He was working two jobs, was staying with a roommate, and had his own vehicle. Everything was good up until September of last year when he started to feel the same symptoms he felt before his initial diagnosis. So he checked himself into the hospital only to find out that he had relapsed, and his cancer had returned. He had to quit both of his jobs, and check into the hospital where he began a new cycle of chemotherapy. Unable to work, he lost both his vehicle, and his place to live. He's currently staying with another friend until he can figure something out. It's been 4 months, and he's completed 2 rounds of chemo, and is awaiting the call to travel to Arizona for a bone marrow transplant, which has a good chance of saving his life. He's going to be up there for about two months. The first month he is going to be in the hospital, and the second month he is going to be following up as an out-patient, but must stay in Arizona. While he is out of the hospital, he is going to pretty much be on his own when it comes to feeding and taking care of himself. Same goes for getting up there. The insurance company can reimburse him later, but he's going to have to front money that he simply doesn't have. We are unsure how he is going to get up there. I'm unable to take him, and he doesn't have family that will be able to take him. That's part of the reason I have set this fundraiser up for him. To help him get up there, and to help him when he comes back. The doctors are unsure when he will be able to return to work. It may be over a year. So I was hoping to set this up to help him get his own place until he can get back on his feet, get him a vehicle to take him to Arizona, and to all of his appointments, and most importantly, just to help him survive. Things look good for Anthony in terms of his health, but he needs help financially. He has exhausted his entire savings, and has nothing left. I have set up this GoFundMe with Anthony's knowledge, and everything earned with be given to him to help him in anyway possible. I have tried to help him out, but unfortunately I simply can't afford it, as I am struggling myself, and he has no family to help him out. Anything and everything helps. Thank you very much, and God bless.
