Help With Hasani's Medical Bills

My name is Carol Hankins, and I’ve been a volunteer at Wild Wonders, a facility that is near and dear to my heart, for the last seven years. Wild Wonders is an animal sanctuary in Bonsall, CA, that provides hundreds of educational outreach programs to schools and libraries every year and welcomes guests onsite for private interactive animal experiences. They also partner with multiple conservation organizations all over the world.

Wild Wonders has been the forever home to a number of cheetahs in the last 12 years…all of whom were amazing animal ambassadors and have helped raise money and awareness for the plight of cheetahs in Africa. Hasani, our six-year-old cheetah, has faced some very serious medical issues in the past month. After several days of not eating, being extremely lethargic, and in pain, the staff at Wild Wonders called in a team of cheetah experts to help transport our boy to a local animal hospital where they could evaluate his condition. Hasani was sedated and put through a host of diagnostic tests, including extensive blood work and an ultrasound so that we could identify the problem and seek the very best treatment options for our beloved cheetah.

While necessary, this ordeal was exceptionally stressful for Hasani and his dedicated caretakers. Hasani has now been diagnosed with Valley Fever, a serious but treatable fungal infection in his lungs. Fortunately, with ongoing care and focused intervention, we expect him to make a full recovery. We are forever grateful to the amazing veterinarians, vet techs, and clinic support staff for the loving emergency care they provided Hasani while he was acutely ill.

As I am sure you can imagine, care like this for an exotic animal is very, very expensive. The medical treatments that Hasani received have generated over $18,000 in bills, an amount that will continue to grow with his continued treatment. He will need medication to clear up his lungs for months to come. Wild Wonders is well aware of the financial strain everyone is feeling these days, especially with the holidays upon us. They are constantly trying to get each dollar to stretch just a bit farther while never sacrificing the well-being and excellent care of each and every one of our furry, feathered, and scaled residents.

At this time of Thanksgiving and Joy, I would like to ask you to consider donating to help defray the costs associated with Hasani’s diagnostic and ongoing treatment. If you are thinking that donating isn’t a possibility, please know that EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR Wild Wonder receives is appreciated, and no amount is insignificant. If you cannot donate, please consider booking a private animal experience, a birthday party, or another event. Just staying busy during their slow season will help pay for Hasani’s medical expenses.
