Boo's Top Surgery Fund Healed & Ready

Hi all my name is Boo McCaleb, A Black Trans artist in Minneapolis, MN. As many of you know I fundraised for this before and was unable to have surgery due to a preexisting chronic illness. This was unexpected and I was taken off the schedule 2 days before surgery because of my state of health. This was devastating and spiraled me into a ceaseless loop of navigating the MN healthcare system on my own with a series of doctors who had never work with my condition before. Never losing hope It took me 2 years of preparation to be eligible for surgery once again. This included a series of iron treatments, chemo therapy, and physical bodywork + exercises, love and support, and general mental health support.

I am now coming back full force, "Healed + Ready" to tackle top surgery again this upcoming January 2024 on the 26th!

This time around I have a new surgeon within U of M health network. My surgeon, Dr. Marie Buckley, was kind to the complexity of my condition and care and approached my body with love and kindness and most importantly she believed in my ability to have surgery! I have now fully exited houselessness after 2 years completing a rapid rehousing program and now live in a safe stable living environment. I have a car that supports me, a loving partner, and full support from my birth parents going forward. I no longer have to hide or worry or be in fear! I am strong and I am feeling good!

Though I have made it this far the journey is continuous and I am now asking for your help once again! In likeness of who I am as I prepare for surgery, this time around, I will be filming a documentary, 'Healed and Ready' as a New Angle Documentary Film Fellow with Saint Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN). This film will cover my past and present, diving into the details of my health and Trans experience, hoping to shed light for many others on this journey as well. I am truly grateful for all those who have supported me and I how far I have come in my strong vulnerability. Below you will find a detailed list of what the funds will be used for during the 2 months of healing needed for recovery as I embark on this Triumph once again! We are going all the way this time!!
