Help Prevent Eviction of Autistic Adult
Donation protected
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read this fundraiser today, it’s to prevent an autistic and otherwise disabled person (me, Meg) from being evicted at the first of the year; all funds will go to an account designated for my landlord via my housing advocate, Tish, a true lifesaver who’s worked miracles in helping to keep me housed.
She’s done everything she can, and my landlord has additionally been very gracious, but I desperately need a stopgap solution until my SSDI case resolves -- even though it was expedited six weeks ago due to the eviction paperwork, my lawyer is unsure if they’ve even assigned me an analyst yet, the system is so painfully slow. (I was previously declared disabled by SSDI after a three-year process but was only awarded brief gap pay because I held a very part-time, unusually accommodating, job for six of those months.) I’ve been on the Section 8 waitlist for the past year with no results.
I’m doing everything I can to save the only home I’ve ever lived in for more than 4 years, it’s just a tiny studio, but it’s the first place in my 41 years where I’ve been able to stay long enough to really settle in and get to know my surroundings. I even got to adopt a dog, something I’ve wanted to do for decades. Despite precarious circumstances, this home has provided a sense of security I’ve never known during one of the hardest times of my life.
This little apartment truly means the world to me. My health has deteriorated too much to survive being homeless again, I'm lucky to just get through a doctor’s appointment without neurological overwhelm. The goal amount would keep me housed through January. If you’re in a place where you can donate to help me stay, it would truly be a godsend. (Sharing is also a great help!)
Thank you again for reading, I hope life is treating you well.
Sincerely,
Meg
