This is for my mother and my best friend who is no longer with us, Marion J Leslie 09/06/1930 - 11/27/2023.
As you may already know, my mom and I were very close. I know how much she loved me and all I can remember right now is how she worried about me all the time. There wasn't a day that went by that my mom didn't call to check in, and I can already feel how difficult each day will be going forward, without her presence. She was also the loving wife of my father Joseph, a World War ll veteran, with whom she will be buried and reunited soon.
Marion has been sick since August with congestive heart failure and has been in and out of the hospital for a few months. She stayed strong and made it to Thanksgiving, and we shared dinner at her bedside that day at the nursing home/rehab center. I didn't know at the time, as frail as she was, that this would be the last Thanksgiving I would be lucky enough to spend with her. I'm so happy I made her favorite chocolate cream pie, even though she was only able to take 2 bites.
I will always remember how much she loved watching Family Feud and listening to Lite FM radio, especially right before Christmas. I will also remember throughout her life, how simple she lived and how much she cared about other people. With the little that she had, she would give to anyone who asked or needed.
My mom had a small amount set aside for this, and after receiving a few quotes from funeral directors it has come to my knowledge that a little more is needed to cover the costs to honor her. It would be appreciated more than anything to be able to raise enough to cover those costs. She told me that all she wanted was a Mass at church, and to be buried...and all I wish is to honor her wishes. Marion also leaves behind one of her most loved cats, Willie, and I promised her I would take good care of him.
My mom's last words to me just kept repeating "Thank you". I would like to extend those words to you and all that anyone has ever done for me, all that my mom has done for me, thank you.
