Teenage orphans in Ukraine

Hi, my name is Mandy Cioch. Me and my friends Oksana Karmasyn, Dave Fisher, Oksana Fisher, Enzo Lucklow and another friend are volunteering in Ternopyl for 1 week in January. So thank you to everyone who instead of sending Christmas cards this year or sending and receiving lavish gifts donated to our fund. We just need a little bit more please so that we can help 40 Ukrainian orphans aged between 14-18yrs to stay as warm, safe and as well educated as possible this winter. They live and study in Ternopyl, Western Ukraine but have come to that city from many different regions of Ukraine. I met some of them personally this November whilst I was in Ukraine volunteering at a hospital. Their personal life stories touched me deeply, they have faced many adversities. Some have been orphaned recently by the war, all of them have suffered hardship because of the war. They are all studying hard and dreaming of becoming plasterers, builders, teachers, sportsmen and women, hairdressers, nurses or car mechanics. Of course many of them already support their country in their spare time by making up food parcels for frontline soldiers and for people who have lost their homes and loved ones. Many of the young students are preparing to go to the frontline themselves after their 18th birthday. We have gathered warm clothing, toiletries and stationary items which the orphans are in great need of and we have obtained transport to Ternopyl for these goods already. Now we need to raise £600 in order to buy more items when we get there and for 5 of us to travel there for one week so we can work alongside the teenagers, inspire them to speak better English, build their self-confidence and show them that the people of the United Kingdom support them and wish them peace and success in the very near future.
