Supporting Evelyn through coronary bypass surgery

My name is Vicky Cory, and I want to tell you about my close friend Evelyn Palmer. She is a nurse at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, and has touched so many lives with her kindness, especially those of her patients. Many of you probably already know her and are lucky enough to call her your close friend as well! If you are very lucky, you get to call her family.

On November 23rd, Ev had her second heart attack. She had only been back to work full time for four days after her first heart attack, which happened last March. She is currently at the Thunder Bay Health Science Centre, waiting to be transferred to Toronto for coronary bypass surgery. Ev's daughter Jen is with her and will be going to Toronto with her as well.

Ev will need to stay in the hospital for about five days after her surgery. Jen will need to stay at a hotel Then they will need to make their way back home here to Kenora. Ev will be starting the healing process again, and we don't know how long she will be off work this time. She had already exhausted her sick time entitlement before going back to work.

Ev has helped so many people over the years. This time, she really needs our help! I hope you will join us supporting Ev through her surgery and getting her back home.
