In Loving Memory of
Raquel “Adah” Baldos Hernandez
(September 23, 1950 – November 27, 2023)
On Monday, November 27,
we sadly lost Raquel Hernandez, a pillar of strength and courage to her family and Filipino community. Her love for life and family sustained her to continue with her long battle with hypertensive heart disease with renal disease and diabetes. Up to the very last days, she refused to succumb to the tremendous pain, fatigue, and continued to endure treatments just so she can spend more time with loved ones. With extreme exhaustion, she collapsed and lost consciousness.
Raquel fondly known as “Adah”, is one of those rare individuals who left a lasting impact on everyone she met. She loved fiercely and defended those she loved with passion. She brought a sense of belongingness and fellowship to every gathering and in every encounter. Her positive spirit and personality were infectious – one that you couldn’t help but love and appreciate.

She is passionate in helping others. She took great pleasure in helping her family and friends as best as she could, with any way that she could, even with as little as she had. She is one to keep her home open to anyone who needed shelter especially to new immigrants in New York. She would save her money so she could send it to her relatives, and not take her needed vitamins and medications to give to family and friends who she thought needed it more.

It is impossible to express the devastating impact of the loss of Raquel on her family, friends, and community. To honor the life of Raquel, we are asking for donations in lieu of flowers
and other expressions of sympathy. Every bit counts towards her memorial service on December 6 and much appreciated. Any proceeds exceeding the costs will be donated to charity in her community. We thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We appreciate them all so much. Thank you for loving Raquel through the years and after.
