Roy Tagle’s Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Fund

On October 15, 2023, my loving father, Roy Tagle, took a horrible fall and was life flighted to Christus Spohn Shoreline. The worst of his injuries were fractures to his C-3, 4 and 5 vertebrates resulting in him becoming a C-4 quadriplegic. He underwent surgery to stabilize his neck and it was necessary to put him on a ventilator to help him breathe. On 10/31/23 he was transferred to a long term acute care facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. Unfortunately, this facility is not skilled in spinal cord injury care, and we are currently trying to get him admitted to an excellent SCI rehab facility in Houston, Texas called TIRR Memorial Hermann. Hopefully they will help with vent weaning and provide him the therapy he so desperately needs. My Dad also has a peg tube that is providing him nutrition since he is unable to eat. Currently, he is experiencing issues with the feedings that we hope they will also be able to address. This has been so overwhelming for not just my Dad, but my mom and our entire family. We can’t even begin to process what lies ahead for us as we are just trying to get through each day.

We have been told that the costs that we will incur as a result of such a high level injury are unbelievable. Just acquiring transportation alone can be upwards of $65,000 that is not covered by insurance. We will also need to make modifications to the home, buy equipment not covered by insurance, pay for assistance with caregiving, and so many other additional expenses to numerous to list.
