Support Cat O'Driscoll in the 2024 Local Elections

Donation protected
My name is Cat O'Driscoll and I'm running in Local Elections being held on June 7th 2024.

Who am I?
I've represented the Cabra-Glasnevin Area since 2020 when I was co-opted to Dublin City Council, after Gary Gannon was elected to the Dáil. But let's go back to why I came to Dublin.... Born and raised in Cork City, I was studying Microbiology in University College Cork when the recession hit and I saw the unequal impact of austerity. I became active in the Students' Union and in 2012 I was elected as Vice-President for Academic Affairs for the Union of Students in Ireland. That role was based in Dublin so I moved to the big smoke for what I thought would be a year. I lived on Mountjoy Street and discovered Dublin's best kept secret: The Blessington Basin. After two terms with USI I was elected to the European Students' Union and I finished this role in July 2015. I started looking for a political home on the left, but was scarred from the betrayal of students by Labour after the 2011 election, when I heard rumours of a new party called the Social Democrats. I went to an open meeting and once the 2016 election was called joined a few canvasses in Dublin Central.

What do I stand for?
My values match those of Social Democracy, I believe in an inclusive, fair and just society in which dignity, respect, and equality of outcome are paramount. I envision a City that;
  • is accessible, welcoming and safe to all, with a special focus on babies, toddlers and their caregivers.
  • provides spaces for culture to be created, developed and experienced.
  • builds high quality homes, parks, transport and public services
  • is committed to meeting our climate goals in a fair and just approach.

How can you support me?
As a full time councillor I'll be immensely grateful to get support to fund the costs of my campaign and to get help with knocking on doors to share the values of social democracy.
  • For visibility I'll be getting posters which cost about €10 each.
  • For canvassing I'll be getting leaflets at about €6 for every 100 doors.
  • To spread my message I'll put €20 a week to boosting videos on social media where I hope to engage people who we don't meet on the doors.
  • A happy campaign team is important and I'll keep us going with snacks.
