Please help Jody in her time of need

Hi! My name is Joanne and I am reaching out to my wonderful family, friends, colleagues and even strangers for any help and generosity you can share with my dear friend Jody.

Jody has fallen on very difficult times..in all honesty, I am praying for a Christmas miracle for her.

Her body is breaking down with progressive Stage 4 Osteoarthritis (she is only 48) with severe spinal stenosis and scoliosis, requiring another surgery of her spine. Surgery is scheduled for January 2024.

Jody has been an angel to me and my family. She entered my life in my darkest hours while my Dad was dying and my Mom's dementia was progressing so quickly. She has been there for us and I would like to be there for her during her medical crisis and healing process to ensure she does not need to stress about finances.

Jody formed an instant bond with my Dad while he was palliative and made him smile and laugh during his final weeks. She helps to continually care for my Mom in long term care on the days I can't be there. My family is very grateful for all the love she has shown to both my parents.

She was the first person who was there when my Dad passed away last year, with open arms and heartfelt hugs and love. I do not know what I would have done without her. She became my first friend when I moved back to BC to be with my parents.

She has been challenged physically, mentally and emotionally this past year. Her medical issues continue to worsen. She had knee surgery last year that unfortunately was unsuccessful so she will likely require full knee replacement sooner than later. This poor girl is falling apart! She has exhausted, with penalties, all of her retirement savings just to keep surviving. Unfortunately, the little bit she had is now gone. She works very little due to the pain, but I never hear her complain. In fact I had no clue that she was suffering until her knee surgery. She always has a smile on her face and her personality lights up the room. She always puts others before herself which I have witnessed on many occasions.

My heart broke when she told me her neurologist said she had the degenerative body of someone in their late 70's..again she is only 48. I see how she struggles but she won't say a thing. She will continually make my Mom smile and laugh and those she visits in the long term care facility.

A month ago she was informed by a neurosurgeon that she needs another surgery for her spine. This surgery will force her to be without any financial resources for months as she recovers. She will be unable to afford monthly rent/bills and her post-op medical treatments/medications.

I am asking from the bottom of my heart for any help you can give to this lovely woman. Anything to help provide healing and support. She is the most selfless, caring and compassionate person you will ever meet. She has been a blessing to me, my family and so many others and now I want to bless her with a miracle. Please find it in your heart to donate and/or share.

Thank you so much!
