Help Edge of Sweetness recover from break-in
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Matt and I'm fundraising to help Edge of Sweetness bakery recover financially from a break-in by thieves who not only stole money but vandalized the business. The bakery is a mainstay in the Edgewater community. Owner Kate Merrill now has to replace a window, her office door, security cameras and monitor, and other items that were stolen from the office. The thieves also broke into 3 other businesses on the same night. Compounding the stress is the fact that Kate's mother passed 3 days before the break-in. Despite all this she still completed holiday pre-orders and got them out to customers. Here is the CBS news story .
I coached Kate's son in wrestling and Kate always came ready with donated treats for our year-end banquet and senior night, year after year. The Merrills are a wonderful family and it is horrible to see them go through this along with all the other crime victims in this city. Small businesses struggle to stay afloat and a situation like this makes it even more difficult to succeed. I for one do not want to see this Edgewater cornerstone replaced by a chain restaurant. Please support and we can help offset some of the costs and keep this vibrant bakery alive in the community.
