Help David Elkins get hearing aids

Help David hear the Beastie Boys and RHCP videos he helped shoot again!

David Elkins, my teacher, mentor, dear friend, and colleague from UNCSA really needs our help. David has been there for me more times than I can count. I honestly couldn’t have gotten through my schooling after all my personal turmoils during those four years when I was privileged enough to learn from David. He didn’t hesitate to help when I needed it or I’m sure when any of you needed it. If you’re a colleague of his through film and television I’m sure you know David’s spirit and kindness. He’s there when you need him and even before you know you do. He’s one of the most reliable people I have the honor of knowing.

Recently our friend and colleague has found himself needing assistance with a medical issue. He is losing his hearing and needs to get hearing aids. Unfortunately, insurance only pays a very small amount. Now that he is retired, his monthly income is fixed and he cannot afford the high cost of the hearing aids which is close to $7500. He has had to deal with 5 back surgeries through the years along with other major medical expenses, challenges, and hardships after retirement from UNCSA. Now confined to a wheelchair he also is tasked with dealing with more expenses tacked on just to give him more ease of life and quality of day-to-day. This is a burden for anyone, especially after retirement, and without insurance covering the majority of the cost of the hearing aids, let alone any at all.

I just ask of you to do what you can to help out someone who has helped us throughout the years. He’s given us so much in time, education, knowledge, hope, and laughs that I am asking you to help me help David as best we can.

Pickles stick together, family should always be there.

Anything you can do to help out would be more than greatly appreciated not only by David but myself and I’m sure many of you want to see him lead a happy life, especially after retirement from such an illustrious career in and out of the education system.
