True Faith Church of God and Christ Building Fund

Donation protected
The late Bishop Jack Williams founded True Faith Church of God In Christ on March 13, 1981 as pastor. The church was housed in a storefront at Imperial Plaza in Riviera Beach for approximately three years. After three years, the late Bishop Williams broke ground for building a church, which was located at 1700 Avenue U in Riviera Beach. The church building was completed within a year and a half due to the hard work and faith of the pastor, his wife and active members. As the church membership continued to grow, Bishop Williams decided to separate from the Church of God In Christ and establish an independent district entitled “True Faith Church of God and Christ, Inc.” on November 27, 1989. The momentum continued with the establishment of “True Faith Church of God and Christ Foundation, Inc.” on September 28, 2001. Additionally, Bishop Williams helped to start several storefront churches as a part of our new district.

Bishop and his wife continued to make a religious impact on the Christian community in Riviera Beach. They built and started another church, which is presently True Faith Trinity Church of God and Christ, located at 1257 West 7th Street, Riviera Beach, Florida. Bishop Jack Williams continued to do the will of God; both churches conducted their separate services but also fellowshipped together during Fifth Sunday Unions and many other occasions.

As the years passed, the church experienced many trials and tribulations. In 2004, the City of Riviera Beach and the School District of Palm Beach County served the Bishop and church with a notification of “eminent domain”. In 2005 the church had to pack up and move out of our beautiful sanctuary on 1700 Avenue U in Riviera Beach. The church was designated to be demolished immediately. Bishop Williams and the current members moved into True Faith Trinity and combined the churches with the Bishop as the pastor and overseer.

Bishop continued to keep the faith and obtained legal counsel and fought the School District in court. Bishop Williams’s faith in God was unwavering. He stated that “God has my Back”. After the trial/hearings, the ending results were “Victory” for Bishop Williams and True Faith Church. The church was awarded a sizable settlement in which the Bishop used to continue the construction of our new sanctuary on 13th and Congress Avenue. Yet, the amount granted still wasn't enough to complete the building.

During the course of time, Bishop Williams fell sick. After an extended illness, our beloved Bishop Jack Williams passed on May23, 2020. Assistant Pastor Barbara Ciggs was immediately appointed Pastor by the church trustees and members so we could continue the work to finish the building of our new church on 13th and Congress, (1888 West 13th Street, Riviera Beach Florida).

Help us to continue the work that our Late Bishop Williams started. We kindly welcome your donation of any amount, that will go towards our church building fund.

With Gratitude,

Pastor Barbara Ciggs and Congregation
