Sean Leavy & His New Family
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
As some of you may already know, on October 27th, our family got the phone call no one wants to receive. “Sean has been in a motorcycle accident and has been taken to Robert Wood Johnsons Trauma Unit ICU”. The minutes waiting to hear updates on his condition felt like a lifetime. I don’t think we have all ever prayed that hard. At RWJ Trauma ICU, he spent several days in a medically induced coma. Sean suffered a broken neck which required immediate surgery, so the breaks did not potentially sever his spinal cord. The biggest concern at that time was Sean waking up, speaking, and being able to move his limbs. Due to the trauma to his head during the accident he had bleeding on the brain. It was the longest few days of all our lives. Surrounded by our family and great friends each day, Sean made progress and continues to do so in the rehabilitation center at JFK for neuroscience and trauma in Edison, NJ. He is fighting like hell, and he needs our help!
The severity of his injuries will require Sean to be out of work for a long period of time which is difficult for any of us for sure, harder still for him, who has a fiancé Karen and a beautiful 2-month-old daughter Adelynn at home.
As they say when it rains it pours, right?! The timing is awful (it always is) for his insurance to be running out and since he had not made it to a full year at his current position, he does not qualify for FMLA. His insurance will run out after December. At that time insurance costs for him and his daughter will have a hefty monthly payment (picture a typical mortgage payment, yup it’s that much). Currently, there is no income coming in for his family and huge out of pocket costs for insurance now along with piles of medical bills.
So many of our awesome family and friends have reached out to check on Sean, check on all of us who have been at the hospital by his side every minute they will let us. All have asked “how can we help?”. Here is the best way all of us can help. Any contribution to help Sean and his young family get through this critical time would be greatly appreciated. Sean is the type of person who does everything BIG. He loves BIG, he would do anything to help a friend or a family member. We ask that you please consider giving a little back to someone who would and is giving it his all to make a full recovery for his Fiancé and pride and joy baby Adelynn.
It is difficult to put into words the appreciation we have for your support. A simple thanks doesn’t seem like nearly enough. To the amazing people we have in our lives who want to make this difficult time just a little bit merrier, we are forever indebted.
Thank you!
