Anything helps even just a share

Sunday, 11/19/2023, was a day we will never forget! The day Ashton’s life was almost taken from us. Two grown adults and a “friend- their son” - at least he thought he was his friend brutally attacked him. His sister Kiahla rushed him to the ER, where he was then airlifted to Iowa City For emergency surgery on his stomach to find out that he had damage to his bladder, kidney, liver, and lacerations to his colon. He was then in PICU. The following day, his cell counts were rising, and his blood pressure was dropping, so he was brought in for a second surgery. On Wednesday, he was brought back in for a third surgery to check everything over one more good time and then to staple him back up! It's been over a week, and Ashton cannot get up or walk. He’s unable to use his hips, and we are unsure how long recovery for this will be. The physical therapist said Ashton will need 24-hour around-the-clock care and may need to spend his recovery in a rehabilitation facility after leaving Iowa City. Ashton will also have a ostomy bag for three months, then will have a fourth surgery to remove it.

Unfortunately, at this time, no one has been charged for the trauma Ashton has endured.

With that being said, Ashton’s mother has been by his side since Sunday and hasn’t left. And has been out of work since 11/19/2023. She is very adamant that she doesn’t want to ask for money. She wants Ashton to be 100% as any mother would. Unfortunately, the insurance Ashton has is not covering any of his hospital care, and they are coming in fast; Ashton’s mother is able to stay at a Hospital Hotel room for $10 a day, which isn't much but $10 a day adds up faster than expected, as well as the Hospital offers $12 a day for the cafeteria so they can eat which is a blessing.
