My name is Alyssa Musser. As some of you have seen or heard, my best friend, Holly Jean Jenson, was recently diagnosed with a highly aggressive form of cancer. The technical term is “high grade neuroendocrine rectal carcinoma.” This has been a sudden change in her life, affecting many people. In less than two months Holly went from being a normal 34 year old woman, mom and wife, to constant juggling of doctor’s appointments, missing work, and traveling. This is only the beginning. Yesterday, Holly had a port placed in her chest. Today, Holly started chemotherapy, which will continue on for the next twelve weeks. Her doctors are looking into other treatments, but because the cancer is so aggressive they wanted to start chemotherapy right away. Her chemotherapy will take up four days of the week every third week from now until February.

Holly and her husband, Michael or “Hondo as many of you know him as, have four children at home. She has just met her insurance deductible which was $7,000 , and the year is about to start over.
