Hi friends! On August 25, 2023, I received the life-altering diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma unfavorable stage 2B. For those who do not know what that is, Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a blood cancer, specifically the white blood cells ( the ones that are largely responsible for fighting off disease and infection). Hodgkin’s typically affects people in their early 20s all the way to late 50s.

For months I had been battling intense itching particularly in my legs and feet that caused me to be unable to sleep at night and scratch to the point where I was causing open wounds on my skin. I went to the dermatologist thinking it was a skin issue, thus we tried different detergent, lotions, medicines, clothing, and soaps just to name a few things. Around mid July, a lymph node on my neck the size of a pea but noticeable to me began to swell. Over the course of a few days it was the size of a golf ball and painful. Over the course of the next month after multiple lab draws, more medication, ultrasounds , MRI, fine needle biopsy and surgery an answer was found.

This diagnosis came just a little over one month after losing my Nana to pancreatic cancer. Of course, with the diagnosis and the loss happening so close together myself, my family and my children were concerned about what my prognosis looks like. By God’s grace, there is a cure and that is what our goal is for my treatment.

As a 28-year-old mother of three, my world shifted, and I've been unable to work since due to a compromised immune system and ongoing treatment. Originally planning to return to work in December, additional treatments have extended this timeline into the new year. I am still undergoing chemotherapy and the plan is for another PET scan around Christmas to determine whether more chemotherapy is needed or if we can move to radiation. The financial strain has become burdening and I've created this GoFundMe to allow others who feel inclined to help our family during this time.

Your contributions will help in covering medical expenses and supporting my family during this challenging journey. Any support or share is deeply appreciated. Thank you for sharing words of hope and encouragement in my fight against cancer. Prayers are also always welcome!

I don’t mind sharing more about my story if anyone has questions. One thing I will say, and tell everyone I know is BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE.
