James congenital heart defect.
Donation protected
Hi we are Jennifer and Sean Damon trying to raise funds to help our son James Scott Damon
James was born June 9th, 2023 with Downs Syndrome and a complete AV canal defect. From the beginning, we knew James was going to require extra love and care given the complexities and special needs that comes with those diagnoses. In preparation of James surgery, we were constantly struggling with his feedings and poor weight gain. James ultimately ended up having a g-tube put in and a Nissan fundoplication done for his severe acid reflux. James' heart also needed to be on multiple medications that had to be administered up to three times a day. To help ensure James did not fall behind in his milestones and would be as strong as possible for his surgery, James was also getting speech, physical, and occupational therapy since he was 1 month old.
Two hospitalizations later, a transition to continuous tube feeding and multiple doctor appointments later James was ready for his surgery! It was explained to us that this surgery was common for kiddos like James and to expect good outcomes. However, our son experienced a rare complication which left him with an injured heart and he is now trying to recover on life support. We live day by day at this time and know we have a long journey ahead of us.
The struggles we endured to get to James prepped for surgery feels like nothing compared to tribulations we are facing now. The unknown of the day to day and the long road to recovery we face makes it hard to know what to ask for. We give thanks to God first for watching over us and James and providing the great support that we have received. At this point, any money we receive will go towards supplementing income as we take time away from work to be with our son at bedside and medical bills to come.
