URGENT EMERGENCY REQUEST — help save my sweet juju

my name is alisha and it is with a heavy heart that i create this fundraiser in hopes of gathering financial support for my sweet 6 year old dalmatian, angel baby, and love of my life, jupiter.

juju has been a very healthy, active, adventurous, fun loving, goofy girl with a sunny disposition. to see her enduring rapidly-developing, life-threatening conditions is absolutely devastating and i am hoping that through the power of community, we are able to give her a chance at treatment and recovery.

some details into what is happening:

unfortunately, jupiter had caught her first case of fleas, so on november 1st i took her to the vet for an exam and to start a new medication to treat them (nexguard). within the first couple of days, juju started showing some reactions to the meds, she was having irregular bowel movements and her energy seemed to have sank. i thought maybe it was just a temporary response, but since, juju’s health has been declining, losing interest in eating/drinking, unable to properly use the bathroom or keep any food down, energy levels depleted, and her eyeballs turned red and started swelling. i tried getting jupiter into the vet but they were full due to the holiday (thanksgiving) so i had to just wait. in the past week, things have taken a gnarly turn, she has developed a big lump on her underbelly, and has become completely malnourished. finally, she was able to get into the vet for emergency testing and i received a whole list of very serious health issues that have surfaced within her.

to name a few: her heart is very enlarged with a horrible murmur, her belly is FULL of a mystery fluid that is squeezing all of her organs together and spreading throughout her body, she had contracted a disease from a tick (she was probably bitten over the summer and the new meds triggered this flare up), she lost 10 POUNDS (1/5 of her body weight) in ~3 weeks. the vet communicated with me that i have essentially a few options…

1) pay for further testing to see what the fluid is, what the lump is, what’s wrong with her eyes, and the severity of the tick disease, and then create a treatment plan from there if possible

2) have her placed in a 24/7 care facility where she can be monitored and treated, but it costs $2-3,000 per night

3) have her put down :(

so far, her vet bills for the initial round of testing cost $1,679.86. this included an exam, x-rays, fecal exam, a comprehensive blood panel, tick disease/other various testing, and receiving fluids. the veterinarian is very concerned about the increasing fluid pooling and traveling around her body and suggests we move forward with another round of testing, including an ultrasound to identify what this fluid is, an eye exam and any associated testing, to look into the lump that has grown, and to treat this newfound tick disease (anaplasmosis). this next round of testing alone will be upwards of another $1,500, and these tests will solely assist in pointing us in the right direction to identify the problems at hand so we are able to create a treatment plan (which they have warned me will likely be thousands of dollars) so jupiter can have a chance at life again.

to make all of this worse, i am currently in another part of the world away from my sweet girl in her time of need. i have looked into emergency flights to be by her side through this, however due to the last minute nature of my travel needs and being within the holiday season window, a one way is costing $1,400-3,500. as of now, i am unable to afford to pay for this flight. i am so scared and shattered trying to navigate this situation and make very hard decisions from across the globe.

so, what i am requesting from this community is to raise a starting goal of $5,000 to make it through the next rounds of testing and the additional care costs associated so we can get my poor baby some help, in hopes she will be able to make a full recovery. our goal amount will likely increase. with the conditions she is currently in, the timing is dire and i only have a few days to act and make these decisions. i would love to be able to be with her, but her veterinary care takes priority with how these funds will be distributed. if we are able to reach our goals to ensure she can receive this much-needed medical attention, i would like to try and fund a flight to be back home with my sweet pup.

i will continue to update as things develop, but again, we are hoping to get this fundraiser circulated ASAP to ensure we can get jupiter the help she needs as quickly as we can, as each day right now is a question mark with her state of being.
