Brittney Teague's Medical Fund

Hello family and friends, my name is Colleen Teague and I am fundraising for my daughter-in law Brittney. Brittney is the wife of my youngest son, Michael, and the mother to 2 year old Ezekiel and 5 month old Ambrose. She is a beautiful, loving and vibrant human being, wife, mother and daughter.

A few months into her pregnancy with Ambrose, Brittney started experiencing muscle weakness, headaches, numbness in her extremities and balance and movement issues. Her doctors took these concerns seriously, performed an MRI and Cerebral Angiography and she was very quickly diagnosed with an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) on her brain. This is a tangle of blood vessels that irregularly connects arteries and veins, disrupting blood flow and oxygen circulation. An AVM is a serious condition because it can cause uncontrolled bleeding/hemorrhaging, seizures, strokes and even death. Fortunately, Brittney's AVM is on the outside of her brain. But due to her pregnancy, a procedure was out of the question until after delivery. You can imagine the stress of being pregnant, having a family, and not knowing if this thing in your brain is going to rupture before it can be treated for several months. Believe me, our family did a lot of praying!

After delivering Ambrose in June, her doctors were able to determine the best course of action moving forward. The procedure they decided on, a surgical removal, is finally scheduled for this Friday, December 1st! She will be admitted to the hospital the day before for a pre-operation: endovascular embolization. This procedure will reduce stroke-like symptoms during surgery by redirecting blood back to brain tissue.

As a result of these procedures, Brittney and Michael are expecting to have medical bills totaling approximately $2,600 after insurance. Her lost wages after short term disability coverage of 60% will be roughly another $2,400 (based on 2 months off work, which is just a guess at this point).
This has understandably been causing extra worry and stress for them. That is why I am asking for some support and help. Our family has always been very independent and self-supporting. We take care of each other, work hard and get it done. But when you are young and have small children, it's tough to make ends meet without added, unavoidable expenses, much less a serious situation like this. Brittney's recovery is expected to be 1 to 3 months with the best possible outcome. She is otherwise healthy and active, and we are praying hard for a quick and full recovery. Please also keep Brittney, her surgical team, and Michael in your continued prayers!

I will send an update this weekend after her surgery. Also, PLEASE share this with anyone who you know, that knows Brittney and Michael. She appreciates all the support of prayers and good vibes coming her way!

All the Teague's thank you, and wish you and your families the best!
