Ghana Flood Relief - Volta Region

Donation protected
An Urgent Plea from Queen Mother Dunenyo 1st of Ghana

In September 2023, heavy rains in West Africa caused a rapid rise in the water levels, causing rivers to breech their embankments, also adding pressure on water management systems in the region, including the Volta Dam, located in Ghana. By early October widespread flooding was on the rise, and spillage from the Volta dam began.

According to Seji Saji, Ghana’s Deputy Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NAMDO, the flooding is ultimately due to climate change.

Fortunately, the navy in Ghana is on the scene with rescue efforts – providing support for more than 8,000 people. The Red Cross Ghana is also on the ground providing daily support to those in need.

Dashanaba King, a retired educator and host of Queen Mother Speaks – a popular talk show in Kenya – is also assisting with flood relief efforts in the Volta region. She’s working with the Red Cross Ghana and asking that those in her global network do whatever they can to assist in saving the lives and livelihoods of those desperately in need at this time.

We Need Your Help:

I am calling out to you with an urgent plan to assist with an epic disaster that has left the flood victims in the Volta Region of Ghana in a state of emergency. Essential services have been shattered, and the floodwaters have not only engulfed their properties but also destroyed essential infrastructure, including roads, schools, and medical facilities. Access to clean water, food, shelter, and medical care has become a daily struggle. The emotional toll inflicted by such a traumatic event cannot be overstated, and the road to recovery will be long and arduous.

Where the Financial Help Goes:

Financial contributions will go directly into the hands of the flood victims, offering them a lifeline during this time of immense crisis. The funds raised will be utilized to provide immediate relief, including emergency shelter, food supplies, clean water, medical aid, and essential hygiene kits. We aim to ensure that the affected individuals and families have access to the vital resources necessary for their physical and emotional well-being.

By contributing to this campaign, you will help provide the necessary resources, tools, and support to help these flood victims get back on their feet and reclaim their lives.

Looking Ahead:

Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of those who have lost so much. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. Let us come together as a compassionate community, united in our commitment to helping these flood victims recover, heal, and rebuild. Everyone deserves a hopeful future. So, please donate today and share this campaign to maximize our collective impact.

With heartfelt gratitude,
